We are happy to announce the first public beta version of the upcoming Wing Helper 1.7.2!
In this beta test phase, we are seeking to find and fix the last remaining bugs and issues with your help before the final official 1.7.2 is released.
Version 1.7.2 Beta 1 can read the files created with previous official versions. The Alpha Test Team already did a great job in making sure that this version is working correctly. However, Beta versions are still in the testing phase, meaning they can still exhibit unwanted or unexpected behavior. Please be advised to treat this version with caution and to back up your existing designs before working on them with any Beta version, including this one.
This version introduces the following new functions and fixes the following issues reported with Wing Helper 1.7.2:
- Support for Dark Mode (Theme) implemented
- Fix for a crash under MacOS
- Development under Linux moved to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Preparation for Wing Helper 2.0)
- QT update for all platforms (Preparation for Wing Helper 2.0)
- Minimum supported version of MacOS: 10.15 (Catalina)
- The first version officially confirmed to run under Wayland (Linux)
As always, 1.7.2 Beta 1 can be downloaded for free from here. If you already have a valid Wing Helper license, you will be able to work with 1.7.2 Beta 1 as if it were an official final release. If you don't own a Wing Helper license yet, you will see the same restrictions with respect to export (DXF, SCAD, PDF, NGC, HOW) as with any officially released version.
Important note for Windows users: due to the change in the signature key provider from Sectigo to SSL.COM, in some cases, you can receive the following warning when installing Wing Helper on your Windows machine:
:
If that happens, please press "More info", and you will be presented with more detailed information and the option to execute Wing Helper anyway:

It is safe to ignore this message if you even receive it - reportedly, Windows requires the downloaded executables some time to acquire sufficient "reputation" before it accepts the signature with no complaints. When you press "Run anyway", Wing Helper will install with no further issues.
If you want to be sure, you can optionally also check the signature yourself, before installing Wing Helper, by right-clicking on SetupWingHelper_1.7.2_Beta_1.exe and selecting the menu option "Properties":

Then select "Digital Signatures" and below:

This beta version is valid until December 31st, 2025. At the latest by that date, it will be replaced by either a new beta version or by the official version 1.7.2, depending on the findings and your feedback.
Kind regards,
Aleksandar Pozgaj
